A Tribute to Angels is Successful in 2012

A Tribute to Angels, hosted by Kenmore Mercy Foundation, was held on November 16 at the Buffalo/Niagara Marriott.  Event Chairman and Foundation Trustee, James Rykowski along with Co-Chair, Lee Ann Vogt, proudly hosted the most successful A Tribute to Angels in the event’s 31 year history, raising $141,000 net of expenses to benefit Kenmore Mercy Hospital. The 450 guests in attendance enjoyed a night of fine cuisine, raffles, silent and live auctions. This year’s “Fund an Item”, a unique component of the live auction which raises funds to purchase a specific item or piece of equipment for the Hospital, was a great success. The Kenmore Mercy Foundation raised $17,200 to purchase 28 brand new flat screen televisions to be installed in each of the private treatment rooms in Kenmore Mercy Hospital’s new emergency department; expected to open in the summer of 2013.

This year’s Sister Mary Mechtilde Memorial Award honorees included Vice President of Patient Care Services at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Cheryl W. Hayes, MSN, ANP, NEA-BC, along with Dr. Raquel Martin, DO, FACEP, FACP and the Physicians of Buffalo Emergency Associates. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Kenmore Mercy Foundation Trustee, Michael R. Moravec, Esq.  Since joining the Foundation Board in 1982, Mike has served in several capacities including Board President, and has chaired numerous committees including the Nominations, Human Resources, and Executive Committees. He has played a key governance role in developing and shaping the Foundation. As a result of Mike's leadership and long term commitment, the Foundation's support of Kenmore Mercy Hospital has grown tremendously over the past 30 years, and continues to evolve today.  Mike was honored at A Tribute to Angels with the presentation of the Sister Mary Mechtilde Memorial Award in 2003.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was created to honor past recipients of the Sister Mary Mechtilde Memorial Award who remain active and supportive of the Foundation, the hospital and our community today.

Major sponsors of the event included the Penfold Family, Buffalo Emergency Associates, Keller Technology Corporation, Kenmore Mercy Intensivists, Phillips Lytle, LLP and CCS Oncology.
