A Tribute to Angels Raises Astonishing Amount in 2011!

A Tribute to Angels, hosted by the Kenmore Mercy Foundation, was held on November 18th at the Buffalo/Niagara Marriott. Event Chairman and Foundation Trustee, James Rykowski, along with Co-Chair, Maureen Winnert, proudly hosted a very successful event, raising $133,000 net of expenses to benefit Kenmore Mercy Hospital.

This year's Sister Mary Mechtilde Award honorees included Ralph J. Vanner, Sr., a longtime member of the Kenmore Mercy Foundation Board of Trustees, and George Carncross, a devolted volunteer and founder of the Guardian Angels Volunteer Program at Kenmore Mercy Hopsital. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Most reverend Bishop Edward U. Kmiec. Bishop Kmiec received the Sister Mary Mechtilde Memorial Award in 2005. This has been a very special year for Bishop Kmiec; it marks his 29th year as a bishop, his 50th year in the priesthood and in June he celebrated his 75th birthday. The Kenmore Mercy Foundation is honored to add the Lifetime Achievement Award to his year of milestones.

A Tribute to Angels Committee Chair James Rykowski is pleased to announce the recipients of this year's Sister Mary Mechtilde Memorial Award are Ralph J. Vanner, Sr. and Clement (George) Carncross. This prestigious award is KenmoreMercyHospital's highest honor, established in 1980 by the Kenmore Mercy Foundation. It recognizes outstanding individuals who have demonstrated a dedication to community service, visionary leadership and the ideals of unselfish service towards others. These qualities were exemplified by Sister Mary Mechtilde O'Connor, RSM, foundress and first administrator of KenmoreMercyHospital.

In addition, the Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Bishop Edward U. Kmiec.  The Lifetime Achievement Award honors past recipients of the Sister Mechtilde Award who continue to remain active and supportive of the Foundation, the hospital and the community today.
