 Board of Trustees Spotlight

Anthony B. H. Habib

Kenmore Mercy Foundation is governed by strong volunteer leadership. It gives us great pleasure to introduce Anthony B. H. Habib, president of Petri Baking Products, Inc. and treasurer of the Kenmore Mercy Foundation Board of Trustees.

In Mr. Habib’s current position as President, his primary responsibilities include the overseeing of day-to-day operations as well as the company’s strategic planning. Before joining Petri Baking Products, Inc., Mr. Habib was a legislative staff assistant for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Commerce.

Mr. Habib worked with Committee counsel and Congressional staff from individual member’s offices on developing legislation. His involvement included his participation from the drafting stage through passage by the House of Representatives and conference with the U.S. Senate. He also assisted counsel with investigations and oversight of the telecommunications, health care, and tobacco industries.

Mr. Habib has involved Petri Baking Products, Inc. and the Habib family in sponsoring numerous Foundation events such as The Bob A. Saldanha Memorial Golf & Wine Event and Tribute to Angels since early 2000. Mr. Habib and the entire Habib family’s involvement has been significant for the growth of the Foundation.

In 2008 the Habib family was honored at the Foundation’s Tribute to Angels event with the presentation of The Sister Mary Mechtilde Memorial Award. The award was established in 1980 by the Kenmore Mercy Foundation and honors outstanding individuals in the community who have demonstrated a dedication to community service, visionary leadership, excellence in medical care and the ideals of unselfish service towards others; qualities exemplified by Sister Mary Mechtilde O’Connor, RSM, foundress and first administrator of Kenmore Mercy Hospital

Two Associates Attend National Conference

Donna Conti, RN, nurse manager of Surgery and Dennis Incorvaia, surgery resource manager, recently attended a conference “Managing Today’s OR Suite.” The conference provided information related to the management of the OR with an emphasis on increasing efficiency while reducing costs. Mrs. Conti and Mr. Incorvaia brought back with them strategies for meeting safety goals and improving preoperative processes in today’s ever changing healthcare environment.

The Kenmore Mercy Foundation funded this conference through the Staff Education program. The Kenmore Mercy Foundation Board of Trustees set aside funds in 2009 to help provide our associates with the tools needed to better assist their patients’ needs. As of today, the Foundation has funded $31,000 in Staff Education Grants.
